DPRK Celebrates Day of Shining Star
The service personnel and people of the DPRK celebrated the Day of the Shining Star, the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

On this occasion, many people visited the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il lie in state, and paid tribute to the portraits of smiling leaders.

The statues of the great leaders and their smiling portraits on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang and in all other parts of the country were visited by service personnel, civilians and youth and schoolchildren expressing profound reverence for them.

A constant stream of visitors flew to the venue of the 22nd Kimjongilia Festival in Pyongyang and venues of Kimjongilia exhibitions in provinces and photo exhibition venues.

Celebration performances were given at theatres in Pyongyang and local areas.

Schoolchildren throughout the country joined the Korean Children's Union, vowing to prepare themselves to be the future masters and reliable pillars of socialist Korea under the care of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

Industrial establishments and farms across the country organized art performances representing the Korean people's high national pride and self-confidence blessed with illustrious leaders and brilliant commanders down through the generations, as well as sports and amusement games.

There were also national schoolchildren's folklore games such as kite-flying, shuttlecock game and rope-skipping at Kim Il Sung Square and other parts of Pyongyang.

Meanwhile, Pyongyang citizens spent a good time at leisure complexes such as the Mangyongdae Amusement Park, Rungna Amusement Park and Munsu Water Park.
